Hi there,
I am doing a ghetto-dutch-bucket system (something like this...(those are borrowed pics))
I use perlite contained within a wal-m*art bag in the bucket as medium.
to make it really "ghetto", I will initially irrigate manually (by manually pouring the nutrient solution from a 5-gal. sized bucket). I will also reclaim the runoff manually - once I see the system working (growthwise), I will likely "mechanize" the whole shebang.
I read one should irrigate 2-4 times a day (daylight only) ...
does it matter if I water 2, 3 or 4 times? will the nute's stay in the perlite? I guess I water until the whole perlite is submerged, it would take then 2-3 mins to run off... --- does this sound OK?
any advice on how often to irrigate would be appreciated. The perlite seems to stay reasonably moist for 4-6 hours (preliminary testing ;D)
thx for your input - I will have first hand pics tomorrow I hope (its raining cats/dogs right now)
