Infrared is absorbed by nearly everything in the room and the re-radiated back into the room. Leave the light on long enough and everything absorbing it will get hotter than the air. Then the air will catch up.
Using equal wattage lights HPS heats up a grow area faster than MH. I had both.
The physics arent that simple when you look at the whole picture instead of an isolated lighting system in some sort of imagined vacuum.
The more efficient light being the HPS puts out more light. True. More efficiency means less heat radiated from the ballast and bulb. True. HPS lights put out more IR than MH. True.willard3 said:
