I've been doing an experiment. I left my Fats on my balcony -5 - 10 C sometimes here in SK.They've been there Nov, Dec, Jan and just wrinkled up. I left a double plastic food-bag cover over them at night. My balcony is like Africa in the day,Africa at night, well the Sahara extremes. In the end, I thought it was not nice and brought them in tonight. Now they are opening up like Elephant ears. I presume their unique leaf structure allows this. I wonder if there are any other plants from hot-cold climates eg Peru, South Africa, Korea, USA, etc that can do this. I suspect nothing on the equator, but possibly Argentina, Indian eg Assam maybe or some part of China and Russia. The leaf is quite unusual, I think.
