Is this a Pepper?

This plant is in the area where I planted my Superchiles, but it is obviously not a Superchile, so if it is a Pepper, I either mixed up a seed, or one of my Superchiles crossed and produced the seed.  If it is a Chile, it is a long season Pepper, as I planted out in late may and I only have 2 small green pods.  My dad planted some ornamental stuff near my Chiles, which is why I am asking whether this is even a Pepper at all.
 
If it is a Pepper, can the type be identified by the leaves, or early pod shape?

If I was a betting man I would place it on it being a pepper plant for sure.

That would add to the mystery, since I've never grown a  C Frutescens.

I ate the pods and it is clearly a Pepper.
