I don't know how big these are gonna get.  I'm hoping to get maximum yield from my plants.

Thanks for checking

Move them closer to the corners and I bet you could fit two more in there, or at least give those more room to spread out. How big is that bed, anyway?

cruzzfish: The BrainStrain was chopped...  I'm experimenting with pruning...    one pruned one not.

so the consensus is to leave it be...

I would just keep the six you have, then. Especially since you're in CA - you'll have a long growing season, so they'll get huge. I Would just place them all more towards the edge so they'll be less crowded and it'll be easier to reach all the peppers. Great looking beds, BTW!

Yup they'll prolly grow together but it'll be ok I'm sure.. Some of these plants get big as you can see. This brainstrain had a 6ft canopy and i plan to put them a little farther apart this year.

Oh eM Gee!

I thinks I should reconsider the beds and just plant in pots like I originally planned.   Freekin Aye, one plant would cover the whole bed already!  I really don't think this square foot gardening thing was made with super hots in mind.

Edit to ask:  What size pot is that?

I put my buckets 2 ft apart last year... But not all got this bushy but still grew together. I think it all depends on the strain.

Any way not trying to hijack your thread but here's the end of my season last year to give you an idea..

That might be an idea! The plants that seem to grow outward you could prolly train them to grow up with twine. Or just prune them if they get too big

They should be fine. I can't tell all the varieties you have there, bc there are some that tend towards very wide or tall growth. Caribbean Reds get out of hand sometimes, and ghosts and trinidad scorps can be 6ft tall in one season.

Do you have a theory about why the ones in the ground did so poorly?  Im growing all in ground and I really want some big plants!!!

I do! Its all clay out there.. I'm hoping they do better this year at my new place cause the soil is black and loose.
