Jackpot at Local Farmer’s Market

So I just discovered the local Farmers Market here in NE Indiana and I was surprised at how many crazy pepper varieties they had! Especially since most people here think Jalapeños are the hottest pepper lol

So I got the following peppers for $8! Reapers, Choc 7 pot, mustard hab, scorpion, fatali, ghost, and yellow scotch bonnet (at least thats what he told me).

Who wouldve thought!

Now I just have to figure out what to do with them...

Im not too far from Franklin. Ive only lived here for 2 years so I guess I need to explore more of the state. At least I know I can get some great super hots close by!
 
yes, Nice score!  Have fun figuring out what to do with them all.  Since it is harvest season, if you think you might want more fresh peppers, go back next week, pick up a bunch and freeze 'em.  Gives you lots of options to play around with peppers in the winter.

Yes maam! Would you recommend freezing them whole without slicing/de-seeding? I just threw all that I had in the dehydrator for now lol.

I re-read the preservation thread and others but wanted to make sure I understand...
 
Wow! That is awesome! I know what you mean about ppl around here not liking things too hot. I'm in Michigan, about 1.5 hours from ft Wayne. I only have about 3 ppl from different cities around me buy peppers from me every year. Only 3. So I have a hard time selling locally.

But yes...nice score!!! And they all look accurate with what you've listed....with MAYBE an exception on the Scotch Bonnet. It kinda looks smooth, like an Aji Jobito. Hopefully there's heat. And maybe the green ones are unripened scorpions?? I'm not trying to rain on your parade. Those all look killer! I'd pay 8 bucks for that pile o' heat.

I used to buy from a great little stand at a local FM, but last year they had fewer of the hot varieties and this year almost none.  Unfortunate, but so many people buy only the milder varieties it's usually the more profitable way to go. I think if they knew better some of the different ways to use the hotter stuff a good number more would be buying it.
 
Thanks all! No matter what they are Ill be happy, especially at $15/lb lol. I live in Fort Wayne and am just excited to be able to find this stuff locally! Hopefully next year Ill be able to grow some more exotic peppers than just habs and thais...
 
Thats awesome!! At $3/lb I would probably buy 20 lbs lol.

Im planning on going back next week to pick up a bunch more and definitely save the seeds to grow next year. My first attempt at growing this year was pretty good but I killed my reaper and scorpion plants pretty early on.
