Jalapas with stingers

Yeees,   I know that sounds like a fluke thing that you might get on a single pod and make a big deal of but, no. It is occurring on virtually every pod on the plant. And yes, this plant is one of the plants from the store bought jalapas that I have been trying to acquire seed stock for. I do not know that this single plant could rule out the theory that the plants are not hybrids as it has only shown up on 1 plant in over 40.

Well, I am pretty sure its a cross.
Its still jalapa with something else, maybe. At least I am hoping its in the genetics as it would be something kinda neat to stabilize.
OK, can these be explained away or is there something here really worth investigating further?

We see those around the markets in south west Texas (down close to the border.Not alot of them but still a few every year also show up at the taco stands.Never thought much of it really, just another jap IMO.

I had some habaneros that did the same thing. No change to the flavor or heat. Just a mutation, I believe.

Then it might be interesting to see if it can be stabilized and induced to greater expression.
