Japanese Maples Anyone ?

I picked up a couple of dwarf varieties last fall and we decided to re-landscape our front yard and tearing out our lawn before summer. I live on a corner lot. My wife likes the idea of a few Japanese Maples as focal points in the yard so we picked up 3 different colored varieties today. A Coral Bark, Shindeshojo and a Bloodgood. My dwarfs are Shanai and Hanami Nakishi for my backyard area. Any one out there in THP land into JM's at all ?

My Nikishi 2 weeks ago now the leaves are green with red edges.

We have silver maples around here lol.

I found another nice one called a Bihou which is a yellow bark variety.

I just couldn't pass this beauty up its a dwarf Japanese Maple about 3 feet by 4 feet. I was driving home yesterday and someone was just starting their garage sale and I saw this tree. It would be $150 plus at a nursery and I picked it up for $30. I root pruned and re-potted into good soil and a larger container.

Those are quite lovely. How would you say they are different from native maples?
