Jeff H's trimmed down glog

I debated whether I was doing a glog this year. I guess I am.

The few pubes and chinense I wanted to grow had germination issues. I ended up with a few orange rocotos and a few MOA plants. That was all. I'll pick up a couple of supers at the nursery this spring. I don't need much, the freezer is still full.....

A couple varieties of cayanne, a few types of jalapeno, poblano, Brazilian starfish, bishop's crown, and several others that I forget round out the hot peppers.

Tomatoes in the forground. Since I took this pic a couple weeks ago the tomatoes have all been transplanted. I'm heading into the year with 15 tomato plants. 3 varieties.

Onions and sweet peppers here.

Update on the puppy too.

She was leaving the gardens alone all winter until while the ground was frozen but just a couple of weeks ago when it warmed up,  She discovered that she loves digging in the soft ground.....now all the gardens are fenced in.

Looking really nice Jeff! What do you look for in overnight low temperatures before you put your plants outside to harden off?

Overnight lows somewhere around 50. Just started to harden off last night under the plastic.

Everything looks great, Jeff. Your tomatoes really blew up! I'm always amazed at how fast they grow compared to peppers when I  grow them side by side.

The darn things had to be moved out of the florescents a week ago they got too big, real fast. I imagine they will be very root bound by the time they go in the ground. Serves them right for growing so fast. :D

I'm liking the look of your babies!

I see a stellar season in the making :P

Mine are all doing pretty good so far, but I don't have anything on your kick ass Texas grow. Yours are huge.

Great, you are doing good! Best wishes to you too!

Thanks Essegi, best of luck with your grow as well.

Pics from last week. These are the last of the indoor pics.

The weather is mostly cloudy for the next few days so it is the perfect time to start hardening off. Time to break out the low row cover from under the crawlspace where it has been hanging out since last year.

All buttoned up for the night. The translucent plastic did a good job of keeping the leaves from getting sunburn last year so they should be good to go.

But I'm only ahead because of the climate. You're way ahead of me on plant quality! I was like in a fog getting going this spring, trying to do way too many things, and all of a sudden, "crap"! I'm behind!

looks  good, perfect hardening off setup.

Nice low row cover setup for hardening off Jeff! I'll be doing the same in a few weeks myself. Keep on truckin'!

Thanks guys, it worked really well. Only 2 leaves got burned out of all of the plants. No more bring them in and out every few hours to harden them off. The poly shades them just enough.

You had extenuating circumstances this year though. Normally yours are top notch.

Fired up the smoker yesterday while I was planting peppers.

After it saw cooked and pulled it weighed in at about 8 lbs of pulled pork. Started with 14 lbs raw. Froze most of it.

Onions coming along nicely.

Holy crap Garlic.

Overall shot of the entire grow minus the really hot ones that are in another bed.

Got bored waiting on the pork so I went ahead and stretched out the irrigation lines and fixed the 1 leak in the system. I doubt I'll need to turn it on for a month or more.

Cheers   Until next time.

Hey Jeff! How's the garden doing? Is it heating up over there?

Hope all is well.
