Jobu's 2014 Grow: Update 11-8-2014 - It was a good season

Good morning All,

Here is my 2014 grow, coming to you from NY.

Seeds were started in Oasis horticubes, nutes were the Masterblend (check mhpgardener on youtube for more info).

4x4 sq, ft garden with plants spaced every 16 inches for a total of 9 plants. I did every 12 inches last year for 16 plants and everything was quite cramped.
The garden and containers are organic with;
Worm Castings
Composted Manure
Espoma Biotone Plus
Jobes Organic Plant and Veggie
Mykos at planting

Weekly feed with GH Floranova Bloom and GH Vitamino mixed with collected rainwater.

If the leaves look bubbly, I foliar feed with some CalMag Plus.

Hi Spicegeist,

Those brown pods are Brown Naglahs (Naga jolokia x Douglah), seeds from Buckeye Pepper Co.  You could say they are a cousin to the bhutlah.  Cheers!

You did really well this season, congratulations!

Me, Smithtown, Saint James area by the old East High School.

Great grow!!  So, for your square foot garden, would you do it again?  Same size? Or would you entertain Two Foot Square garden?  Just wondering if you thought they grew too close to each other.

Nonetheless, those Yellow Brains look fantastic!

Disolo,

Thanks for the compliments.  This is the second year I have done the square foot garden (it's a 4 x4) and will do it again next year. First year I did 16 plants, this year I did 9 plants and the spacing was much better.  For my needs, One garden is enough and maybe supplement with a container or two if so desired.  Cheers.

I'm using the same beds as you, but I stacked mine double height. This was my second year using it, and it has only improved with time.

Great grow, you really got a decent amount of peppers from 16 square feet! I generally plot my 4x4 beds in a 3x3 planting format like you did this year with most of my larger crops.

I found 4x4 planting is too dense for most crops for me as well, although with broccoli it seems to be working out fine.

Hey Slade122,

Indeed, this was my second year with the raised bed. Amazed at the results.  No room in the freezers, made at least a gallon of mash, mostly from peppers and the dehydrator has been working overtime.  Cheers.
