Mild, it might be the mildest pepper we grow. I am letting them get as big as possible to see if I picked the first few immature.

You have some great plants growing and beautiful pods as well. That's the second time today I've seen superhots in a square foot. If my garden wasn't covered with concrete, I'd follow your example :P

edit; I don't usually correct typo's, but square fooD? That's just silly

So my wife was weeding a garden area a few weeks ago and found a small plant. Fast forward a few weeks and this is what it has grown into, 2 x 2 at least with 100+ flowers.

That is a very poisonous plant called Solanum Nigrum also known as Black Nightshade!! The unripe berries that if forms contain the most toxin.

Thanks for the heads up, pulled that sucker and put it to the curb.

So Chris, are you still able to access the middle plants pretty easily? I ask because I'm going to be ditching containers next year and will be growing my peppers in a 10x10 community garden plot. I was going to grow them in a checkerboard pattern with a 2 foot walkway going down the middle, essentially breaking it up into 2 4x10 plots. Doing that I can fit 40 plants in the plot. I'm leary of devoting a single square per plant, but if you are having success I might rethink. I could do 80 plants if I did that.

The rule as far as I know it for square foot gardens is 4 foot wide by what ever long. That will allow you to reach into the middle fairly easily. The one I have in the easement is 8 * 4 and the one above is 4 * 4. The 4 * 4 is crazy thick with 16 plants in it but I goofed around today to make sure I could reach all over. Once pods start to ripen and set that will really be the challenge! Honestly my in-ground plants are for the most part just as crowded right about now but not as close together.

Yeah, I would still be staying within the 4 foot width guidelines since I would have the 2 foot walkway going down the middle of the plot. I was just worried about crowding issues if I devoted only a single square per plant. That's why I was thinking of the checkerboard pattern wher each plant gets an additional 1/2 foot in each directionto grow uninhibited. But if you are getting good results with a single square per plant, I may have to rethink.

The soil I put together is so good in there it wouldn't matter if I only had 4 plants, they would go crazy! As things progress I will share the results.

No way, people eat the ripe berries all the time, just don't eat them before they're ripe:

Yeah I read all about this but having 3 kids 5 and under I did not want to take a chance!
