Really sweet to see new babies

, especially after I'm pulling plants over the last 3 weeks.

Into week two and many new babies so very happy - 73% at day 14

Items in green are out of the Germinator 6000. Items in black still have some hope.

Culled some seeds that had possible mould, etc. and lost a couple with my fat fingers :lol:

Still waiting for - Yaki Blue / King Naga / 7 Pot BubbleGum (might throw in some late starters incase)

I have mounted a phone holder to take progress pics and hopefully will have a sea of green in a couple of weeks. Comparative photos to follow.

Well done mate, you have a lot going on there.

How big is your tent? Will they all fit in there until you can get them outside?

No chance theyll all fit Bob. Its a 1.2m x 1.2m tent so thats why I am aiming for one of each, 30 plants max. Ill grow until I run out of space, sell, gift or cull those I have more than two of, grow until I run out of space again and make a final choice on the one plant I keep for the season, the other one cull, gift or sell.

I do have a second isolation tent I can fall back on if required but its 3ft x 3ft. I use it if I have a plant thats got problems or if, Im the case this year, I want to do some crosses.

No chart this week, but got another Big Red Mama and a Guatemalan Red that I potted up Friday.

I must make a point of checking the remainder and getting them into some soil.

Progress is good and running under 24hr lighting for now. Also started the Cito seeds as part of the Growdown on Thursday

Seed germination has slowed to almost zero now so only stragglers left.

If they don't come up in the next week we will call it a day and concentrate on the ones I have

Two week update - Plodding along slowly

Been super slack lately, but here we go.

Got the soil all wrong this year, so over the last two weeks I've re-potted the gals into new medium (Osmocote → Terrazilla) and dosed with some AACT.

I can already see the improvement. Most of the lush looking ones were done 11/08, the remainder 18/08.

Hopefully they will get to outdoor size in the next couple of weeks so that we are ready for plantout.

What I have learned is that at this early stage of the grow you need to give the roots a chance to grow and expand.
Only later in the grow you need to add all the nutes and minerals.
My best plants are in Coco coir, vermiculite and compost in equal amounts, nice and light and the roots really take off.
Those in 50/50 compost and coco coir are doing well, but less so.

And some sunlight.....

What exactly was your issue with that osmocote stuff do you think? My brother also used that blue bag stuff and found it would just hold water forever and be very compact.

At $20 a bag hardly worth the results obtained. Held water far too long and growth was as though it had zero nutrients. Almost like it had lockout.

My theory was to use a good quality potting mix with sufficient nutrients to last the season (Osmocote states 10 months). This would have made feeding only necessary towards the end during fruiting.

Wont be using this next season for sure. I am quite impressed so far with the Terrazilla. The composition of the soil is great and has only enough nutrients for four weeks leaving feeding in the hands of the grower.

Table is only big enough for about half of them so getting ready for big sell off or cull.

Much happier with growth now and only 4 weeks to planting out.

Progress is on par or slightly behind last year, but I blame myself for trying out the Osmocote.

Your plants are looking good. Keep those extras for grow experiments. You just never know how far you can push a plant until you try it.

Those that don't sell will definitely end up being experiments. I hate culling plants especially after caring for them for so many weeks.

Can't wait Jaques. The weather is slowly getting better and we at around 5C minimum at the moment.
