Keeping the Illinois trend going!

Hi I'm Mark from Port Byron,Illinois nestled on the banks of the mighty Mississippi :)

I've always had a love for hot sauces. Every year we take a trip to Galena for shopping and fun and my favorite stop is the galena canning co. to check out their collection of hot sauces and salsas. Eventually my passion has come to creating my own sauces and learning as much about peppers and hot sauces as I can which led me to start my own blog and also led me to these forums :)

Thank you so much and it's a pleasure to meet you. I really want to learn the nuances of growing peppers from the seedling stage. I grew some banana peppers last year but it was already at the plant stage that I bought from lowes. I really don't have much of a green thumb :(

Welcome from north of Chicago. You can easily acquire a green thumb by reading thru the wealth of knowledge others share here every day. Looking forward to your glog

Can't promise anything, but last few seasons I ended up with 100ish spare plants.  If it happens again and willing to drive my way somewhat and meet somewhere might be able to share some.  Possibly growing around 200 varieties this year.  Not sure how much room I will have for spares, but I usually start quite a few extra as I count on a certain percentage of germination failure.  Then when they end up germinating for some reason I have trouble culling them and end up with all these extras.  I usually give away a bunch to guys at work in march/april timeframe as I start to put into bigger pots an run out of room.  Usually at that point they are in 72 cell count sized trays.  If you wanted at that point all you have to do is put in a 3.5" or solo cup and have some good window light to finish them out indoors for another few months.  By that time that hardest part other than hardening off is already done.  I guarntee you what you would get isn't anything you would be able to find locally unless there is some great greenhouse out there that I havn't heard of.
