Last year I tried to grow these to no avail... I had the opportunity to wear a fresh fruit (from sprouts-whOle food market) and it was delicious. This year made me think about them and I'm growing them again... and also picked up the RUND version from.bakers creek... anyone else growing them?
I've grown them in the past and had good luck growing them, I had direct seeded them into the soil in early June when the soil was warm. What I did was amended the soil with good horse manure and covered the seed area with a black soil cover to add more heat to the soil and act as a weed barer. I think I got close to a hundred little stickery melons off of 6 plants, the flavor was good and my grand daughters liked them once they figured out how to eat them. One thing I didn't like was they have a lot of seeds one reason I don't care for Asian melons although they are more like a cucumber in shape and growth habits. I got my seeds from Baker's Creek ( rareseeds.com ) as I live 30 miles from them.
