Lamp Cord has no Male plug for ballast

Hey,
I bought 2 1000W ballasts last year that came with no lamp cords. So i ordered 2 cords online that I thought would just plug into the ballast (Sunlight plug). Well it turns out they just have bare wire ends :(. I was wondering If anyone knows where i can buy a Sunlight male plug that I can attach to the end of the lamp cord so I can plug it into the ballast or how would I go about directly wiring it to the ballast (my guess replace the female plug in the ballast with a plug of some sort that I run the wire through). If you could link a website with either solution that would be great :). Thanks.

Whats the brand on the ballasts? and do you have a picture? I have a buddy that runs a light shop. I can have him check it out if we cant help you here.

I don't know anything about Canadian electricity, but I'll take a shot.

I'm kinda missing what you're needing. Your ballast should have 120, 240, 277, and some have 460 volt connections. I use a 12 gauge orange extension cord from Home Depot for 120 volt. Cut off the female end and wire nut it to the ballast leads. Black to black, white to white, and green to green. If you have 220 volt you'll need a piece of 12/3 wire and a male 220 plug. Piece of cake

Notice the plug on the ballast is not normal. I either need to add the male plug to my lamp cord or hard wire it to the ballast (by either drilling a hole in my ballast or removing the female plug with a cap of some sort that I can feed the wire through).

you need sunleaves common cord set, you can purchase them online from the site link you provided or any of the online web stores that carry sunleave brand of products.

if you want a physical store location, you would probably have better luck searching lighting stores that have a focus on hydroponics/aquagardens(on the rare occasion your local canadian tire store just may have the adapter but I doubt it - you may have better luck in Ottawa or Barrie). North Bay has a number of nice specialty shops - my mom lives in Callander and I visit on occasion and she loves to head into the Bay for bingo/walmart/grocery shopping and King's all you can eat chinese buffet.

lots of industries do this - add a connector that is somewhat brand specific.

I am gambling here and don't believe he will have to strip any wires - tee hee! (oh you meant Canadian folk dancing).
 
Hmmm well i dont really want to buy another cord... maybe I'll just hard wire it it will probably be easy.. plus i dont need the option of detaching it anyways. If I was to hard wire it is there some sort of cap I can replace the female plug with? or im I left with drilling a hole in my ballast?

Look at the list I posted. All electrical stuff sold in US has to meet UL listing and only the NEMA plugs shown meet these requirements. The plug will have a NEMA configuration, either male or female.

Spend the time required to figure this out and don't glue your butt to the ground.

Just call sunlight and buy the cords. I got a ballast without a cord and sunlight asked what model I had and where I was located and sent me a cord that I received in a couple of days. I'm sure I could have save a couple of $$$ trying to find it myself, but it was just too easy to call give them the info and say send it.
 
After much searching I ending up just ebaying another set of cords which came with the plug (after I found out the wire on the my orginal set was only rated for 300V. They work great. Thanks for all the help guys.
