hot-sauce Lingham's Hot Sauce

Damm skippy! If you have never tried it, this stuff is awesome. I'm no reviewer but for about $3-$4 I am telling you... GET SOME! It's a really good hot sauce from Malaysia. It is about 4 times hotter than Sriracha with a similar flavor profile. A little hint of sweet, and the heat is no joke. I bought this bottle at :cough:walmart:cough: so it should be available everywhere. A 'MUST HAVE' in every hot sauce collection, especially for Asian dishes.

I give it a solid three thumbs up.

Must admit, I haven't tried this for a good few years but I do recall despising it. Maybe I should give it another go.
 
I've not tried Linghams' extra hot, only their regular and their ginger garlic, both of which are significantly more like thai sweet chilli than what you're describing.

I have the Ginger Garlic in my fridge and it basically Thai Sweet Chili sauce as you said.  Its pretty good but I still prefer Mai Ploy Thai Sweet chili sauce to it. 
 
I have never seen the Extra hot anywhere, but I cant imagine its more than just Thai pepper heat, but still sounds good. 
 
It's hot. I am no slouch when it comes to heat but this is easily one of the hottest "off the shelf" sauces I have ever bought. Seriously surprised it was at Walmart of all bloody places. When we have Asian meals, like last nights beef veggie teriyaki bowl, I am replacing Sriracha with this.

If I were to compare heat levels between Sriracha and this Lingham's I would say Sriracha is a 3 out of ten and this Lingham's is easily a seven or eight out of ten.

One being ketchup, and 10 being a fresh Jonah-7.

I'd say the extra emphasis on the garlic sets Lingham's apart just a little from other Thai Sweet sauces but I still prefer ones with a focus on good quality fresh ginger or more interesting chillies.
I don't think I know Mai Ploy specifically.

I do the exact same thing, I mix the Linghams and Mae Ploy together to kick up the heat and that added ginger infusion.  They do compliment each other really well, 
 
My local Thai eatery which is regarded as the best in the city exclusively uses Mae Ploy so I have an affection for the sauce, over many many years of eating there. 
 
 

 
 
Is that style of hot sauce uniquely Malaysian? Are there any other pepper syrup sauces that get their consistency using sugar alone rather than gums?
 
Can confirm tastiness. goes really well with cheese toasties imo.
 
Could easily get through a bottle of that in under a week.

Yeah i meant grilled cheese. I apoligize but my bad teeth and horrendous over bite make it difficult for us lot to pronounce it that way. :)

To be more precise you need a load of fresh oregano and about 4 or 5 lemon drops whilst using this sauce to get the full effect.
