Local's 2017/18 Glog - Perth, WA

So I thought I should start another one of these considering the weather is starting to get better now.

After cutting the plants right back though winter they are kicking into gear now.

Also having the LED's this year is making the seedings grow a hell of alot faster than last years :) should have them in the ground by late October at this stage. Here is what it all looked like last week, I'll get some new photos tonight.

So another progress update - OW's still growing, the seedlings got a little burnt when I left them in the sun yesterday in 40 degree weather :(

On a happy note, my mango tree has fruited. I started growing this thing from a seed a few years back, the tree looks a little small to be growing fruit but hey, glad to see something on it :)

Plants and pods looking nice and healthy, Damien!

Mangoes?  Awesome!

Thanks Paul.

Yeah mangoes, wasn't expecting any for a few more years.

I'll try get some photos up of the seedlings, even though there isn't much growth in them :(

That mango plant looks weird.

What is your climate like over there?

I think that its way too cold here for mangoes.

But great work! OW's look fantastic, and seedlings should come along soon!

Keep it up!

Those OWs are really magnificent, Damien. Very I'mpressive!
Seedlings looking very perky, as well!

Looking good!

I feel ya with the hot weather, I've had to move my remaining solo cups around because they just dry out too fast.

When do you think you will get them into the dirt?

Hoping to get the planter box built in the next few weeks. Getting married in March and it's taking all my money
So hoping I can get it done before then haha

Great photo and nice harvest. Lets just hope the Amarillo doesnt do as well as those

Yeah I think I'm going to struggle to get 1 pod from it :(

The weather has been terrible for the seedlings, I need to get them in the ground asap

Nah Im sure youll be fine.

Worst thing you can do is get them in the ground ... what you need to do is get a giant magnifying glass and concentrate the sun to the top of the plant just where it forks. Growth will be exponential

UPDATE!!!!!   :metal:

Seedlings are in the ground, finally dug in the 2nd planter box.

Got some temp dog-proofing

Seedlings are in, seem pretty happy so far, they have some 30% shade cloth to keep them from getting burnt.

I will post up some pics of the finished product and the casualty of the falling lattice  :tear:  tomorrow.

Last Year it ended around June-July according to my thread, I remember it being quite a way into winter and still picking pods in the rain.

Wow, you've still got ages then! I'm expecting April, or May, depending on when the frosts come this year. last year they were a bit later, but we usually start them off in the last week of April.

Yeah it's weird here, I'm a fair bit inland in WA so that may have something to do with it, but I don't think we got frost at all last year.

Hey, Damien - your garden space is very neat and tidy - looks great.
Can't wait to see them take off now that they are in the ground.

Also looks like you had some help with digging your beds!
Good luck with the permanent dog-proofing.

:shame:, doggie!
