I have some extra seed from my 101" long gourd if anyone would like to try their hand at growing them this year. I will try and get as many out as I can just post if interested.
they are edible but I don't really care for the taste. Just grow for fun. When they are small they are really hairy and have a funky smell when you cut them openHawaiianero said:Awesome. We call then long squash here (go figure) Goes great in soups and stews but you gotta harvest them a little smaller. Mine only average about 4 feet long with a couple pushing past 6 feet. I'll have to dig up some pics of my grandson holding one bigger than he is.
Start asap if you can. I started mine back in April, they can take a long time to germinate.fiogga said:Haven't planted them yet, soon though, it's been 85 here in Indiana!
