I'm looking for a good habanero hot sauce recipe. I've got a variety of habaneros that I want to make a sauce out of, something hot, but not something that is unbearable. I think I have 25-30 total. Any suggestions?
As a matter of fact ive been working on this on and off this summer and tweeked it to this, just bottled 36 bottles today for holiday gifts. try it out! this will only use about 3 habs, nice heat but nothing crazy
makes about 12 oz sauce
14g habaneros
100 g red onion
28 g garlic
26 g ginger root
.3 g (1/8 tsp) cinnamon
.3g tumeric
10g sugar
13 g salt
4 oz white vinegar
6 oz water
chop all in blender, simmer 20 minutes, puree fine in blender
Cool thanks! I will give it a try this weekend. Any chance you converted grams to tsp, tbsp, or cups? If not no biggie, I'll get rough conversions at least.
I made the sauce today and it turned out really good! Like you said, had good heat, but not unbearable and had good flavor. I probably should have puréed it a little longer, it wasn't very runny. Thanks for the recipe!
Love the simplicity of the sauce recipe, Alan! Sometimes, I get too complicated and sometimes, it's just so nice to keep it simple. Also, spice amounts are excellent!
