wanted Looking to buy some Super Hots varieties in large quantities.

Thanks for the support SuperHot.
Remind me about this post and I'll gladly send you some seeds when I get them.
Right now we're haggling on price...but I'm sure we'll work something out.
Fiery Regards,

I probably only have a few 1000 seeds of Butch Ts, and have Morugas as well, but I can't touch those numbers now. Those numbers might be hard to find from any one source. My growing criteria meets your specification though. The way I mix up my soil, I don't need insecticides to keep my plants insect free, and used organic substances for fertilizer. Plants were isolated in separate greenhouses either 100s of feet from each other, and in a few cases not relevant to the type you are asking about, using greenhouse netting to make insect pollination impossible. All my seeds come from hand pollinated flowers and only come from the best looking peppers for the type. Thats why I only have a few 1000 of each type. If I ever thought someone would be asking for 10,000 plus seeds, I could have collected that many. For this year I will be growing enough peppers to produce well over 3,000,000 pepper seeds, but I can't see extracting that many seeds in a year without piles of help. Tom

Hi Tom,
Email me direct at pepperjoe@sc.rr.com and we'll discuss it further.
There may be some possibilities for both this year and next year.
Did you say 3,000,000 seeds...or did you add a zero? :halo:
I'll be down near Lakeland in 6 weeks at St. Pete's Beach.
Thanks,
Pepper Joe

I'll e-mail soon. 3,000,000 was just a general guess that I wanted to keep a little lower than what I am expecting. 120 plants, 800 peppers on each plant, on average, for the entire season, and 40 seeds per pepper makes a little over 3.8 million seeds. Last year with two less crops per plant than I will get this year, I was getting about 600 peppers per plant, and many of the peppers were producing 50+ seeds in a pod. This year, last year's plants have already been over wintered, planted back into containers and already have at least 10 times the branches to start out with and are already showing flowering structures on most of the plants. Last year at this time I had some small seedlings just coming on. This year, I started my seedlings in October and grew them out all winter, so all my seedlings are already branched out into about 8 branches at 6 inches tall, so to expect only an extra 25% from last year is probably under estimating as well. Now, certianly, I wouldn't want to take seeds from all the peppers from the plant so I can't figure doing all of them. For that matter, I can't see trying to extract that many seeds. It would be impossible for my wife and I to do that, and if we tried, I'd probably hate growing hot peppers, because I'm really doing it mainly for fun. I mainly grow and breed rare cycads for a living. But, I can see if the seed sales do well, I could hire out people to extract seeds for me and it wouldn't be so bad. Anyway, I'll get with you later. Tom

my god! that's a lots of seeds!

WHAT IS THe BEST WAY TO remove the seeds? do you dry them en then crush them, into flakes and then filter or shake all to seperate seeds and flakes?

We should probably move this to another forum, because this forum is mainly for things for sale. This will be my last one I do though. I wouldn't be confident that dryed out seeds that were in the peppers, would be the best quality seeds. I have been making powder out of all my pepper types and selling that and I have been putting the peppers in a dehydrator and baking them for about 9 hours. That just can't be good. I have been cutting the peppers in half for the dehydrator anyway, so before I put the peppers on the trays, I have been extracting the seeds by hand with a knife. I also have to make sure the seeds don't have a lot of pulp attached, so that is even more tedious. I have done about 700 seeds in an evening, so that isn't all that bad. I do, however get real tired doing it and I have a lot more peppers to dry in a batch, so after a while, I just cut the peppers in half and put them in, seeds and all. I usually just pick the best looking pepper to collect seeds from anyway, so I pull those out first.
