lost all tomato plants to unknown virus / bacteria

welp, im trowing in the towel.

I just lost about 17 tomato plants to the same issue, now all other tomato plants are severely infected as well. no idea what it is, its not nice though. It looks as if the stem is swelling with something white, it rubs off, and if you rub it off, it turns dark, black, brown

Short of doing research, it makes me think of the damping off fungus. Yes, even grown plants can get fungus, not just babies. I had that happen with some plants that were almost 2 feet tall - just plain fell over one day, as I hadn't noticed what was going on before then.

I'm still thinking fungal. Look at damping off and southern blight.
 
First things first - check ALL your plants, especially close to the soil line. Separate any healthy ones from the unhealthy ones. Treat even the healthy ones with a good fungicide, making sure to get the soil, not just the plants. Sorry, but you're probably going to loose all that have the fungus on the stems though.
 
Gaah! keep those plants away from your peppers. Peppers and tomatoes are susceptible to a lot of the same diseases. Wash your hands after touching the matoes before touching peppers.
 
Spray on a mixture water, baking soda, and a little veggie oil.

1 spray bottle
1 Tbs of baking soda
1 Tbs or Veggie oil
Fill with water and spray EVERYTHING! go light on the soil but heavy on the plant.

And do so ASAP and you might save a few.

updates
ive removed all effected tomato plants. I have also sent off about 10 samples to a plant pathologists. Anyone who wants to guess what it was, nows the time. I should have the results back next week with a full report.

I also noticed that there is white mold growing in the tops of soil on my pepper plants. I hope this isnt related. Thus far, no signs of this issue that effected the tomatos are present on any pepper plants. I hope it doesnt show up on the peppers.

I'll put pics of the white mold soon.

My guess for the pathology, Sclerotium rolfsii AKA southern blight.

If anyone is interested, the tomato's were in some very nice soil. Fox Farm Happy Frog, seeds were also commercially bought from a very large and reputable seller.
 
Scrape the mold off the surface of the soil. Spray it good with hydrogen peroxide. Repeat for several days.
