hot-sauce Low Sodium Hot Sauce Choices

Hello everyone,

I am on a low sodium diet so I rely on hot sauce to add taste to my food. My question is this. What are some good low sodium sauces that you have tried, seen, or produced?

I am looking for the sodium content in the sauce (i.e. - how many mg per serving and how big is the serving - tablespoon, teaspoon, etc).

I know there are a lot of sauces out there with high salt content but I am looking for something in the range of < 40 mg per serving. I love this site. I have experimented making a very simple hab sauce myself and looking forward to trying to make even more sauces after reading many of your suggestions and tips. I have jalapenos and habs growing in my garden.

Any info or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Brother Bru-Bru's African hot sauce has no sodium. Unfortunately, that's the only one i can think of at the moment.

Pepper Pete's sauces... 0 sodium.

Thanks for all the information so far everyone. I appreciate it!

Luckydog - I have tried Choula before but a few months back I noticed the bottles I had bought had 20 mg but when I went back to buy more they had 85 mg of sodium. I called the company to check and see about the change and the lady advised me they changed the recipe last May 2006, so any bottles you have with 20 mg is about a year old. I wish I still had some of the 20 mg bottles. She did advise me they are currently working on a no sodium version.

I will have to try the sauces you have suggested. Hope to talk to you all again soon and thanks for the warm welcome.

Roy
