matches in the hole

does anyone put matches in the bottom of the hole before planting? i did this last year and not sure if it makes a diffrence or not.

phosphorous supplement... 
your fertilizer should already have it so not necessary if you already providing some..

Not necessary
Use a balanced fertilizer containing macro and micro nutrients, or follow good orgainic gardening practices.  Either way you should be fine without matches.
 
Of course... it couldnt be hurting anything, and they arent expensive...  so put them in if you like

I used 8 pounds of sulfer last autumn till spring. All for the russet mites. My front yard smelled like matches for months!

Get some real nutes then playing around like that. You will thank yourself!
