Aleppo doesn't taste anything like Cayenne. I have a jar of it in my pantry right now. After harvesting they sun dry the pods, remove the seeds. then crush it into small "flakes". It isn't totally dry like the standard dried chili flakes we get here in the States, more like a sun-dried tomato consistency. Medium hot with a very pronounced fruit flavor.
