Mikes 2010 super hots aerogarden grow log.

So i've begun my 2010 and probably into 2011 plant grow and I will be over wintering them to grow again next summer.

I'm using an aerogarden ag7 pro200 and the stock nutrient tabs until I run out of them.

Got my letter of seeds from neil @ HSC today and installed/planted them into my aerogarden deck. Ill be growing the following:

Fatali's
Bonda Ma Jacques
2x Yellow 7's
Trinidad scorpions
Chocolate habanero
and lazienfat is sending me some scotch bonnets. :-D those will be added later. Thanks a lot!

If anyone wants to send me another variety I'd greatly appreciate it! I'll remove one of the yellow 7's and plant it in soil to compare its growth with the yellow 7 in the aerogarden.

Heres a video of the setup ive got going.

Pretty neat setup. Never realized that was a full hydro setup. How tall can the plants get before you have to take them out?

The local Lowe's here sells more of the nutrient tabs for when you run out. Easier than ordering them through the website if your local store sells them, as well.

Edit for: if you're going to move one of the peppers to a soil, they take a while to get used to the change. Don't lose hope if it looks bad.

From what ive found, its not how tall, its how thick before I have to remove them. When the stem reaches about 3/4" thick I have to pull them. My bhut jolokia, i had to cut the top deck apart to get it out.

Ill also be switching to liquid nutes because the tablets get all chalky in the pump and at the bottom of the reservoir, and I can also control what my plants are getting better than an all in one tablet.

I've started all of the last 4 of my pepper plants in the hydro and have transplanted. if you spread the roots enough when you transplant, and soak the soil, all of the air gets out and they have a pretty easy transition.

heres a pic of a hydro transplant root ball.

The Aerogarden website shows a max of 24" growing height for their largest model. If you wanted to leave them in the aerograden, which chile plants could grow full size in 24" or less.... maybe cumari?

they tend to not set flowers in the aerogarden. the roots are too wet and its producing too much rich foliage. Also, the indoor temperature doesnt help much when its around 70 all the time.

So some of my bhut plants pods ripened.. figured I'd toss a picture up here.. looking more bhut like!!!

Also, the only two to have sprouted so far have been the t scorp and bonda ma jacques. Trying to germinate some of them in peat pots instead of soggy sponge stuff for now.

I've been eyeing the Aerogardens for some time now. I get the emails and catalogs in the mail. Haven't gone ahead yet but was thinking I might give it a go this winter and see what happens. I'll be watching your thread to see what you have to say about it and how things work out for you. Good luck ;)

I guess, I never thought about it but the Aerogarden is just a little Waterfarm, DWC system. Cool, now I don't so crazed for DIYing my pickle buckets.
