MikeUSMC 2018 Grow

Well, I'm about 2 weeks behind when I usually start, but I've been too damn busy lately. Once again, 'scaling back' my grow to about a dozen plants just ain't gonna happen, no matter how many times I tell myself that ;)

My 5th Season is underway, and
Here's my list for 2018:

These will be in 5 Gallon Buckets (backyard). I also plan on isolating A LOT of these plants this year.
- 7 Pot Douglah x 2
- Chocolate Scotch Bonnet x 2
- OBEAH (Genetikx)
- 7 Pot Cinder (F2?) (Bhuter)
- CGN 21500 (Bhuter)
- TFM Scotch Bonnet
- MoA Scotch Bonnet (MWCH)
- Bahamian Goat (MWCH)
- D3 Goat, Giant pheno (F4) (D3monic)
- D3 Goat, #4 (F3) (D3monic)
- D3 Goat, Peach Mild #2.5 (F3) (D3monic)
- Scotchbrains (G.I.P.)
- P. Dreadie "Select" Scotch Bonnet (Trident)
- P. Dreadie Scotch Bonnet (TGCM)
- Carolina Reaper, big tail pheno (TGCM)
- Ecuadorian Red Rocoto (TGCM)

10 Gallon Containers (backyard)
- Giant Yellow Rocoto (TGCM)
- Large Red Rocoto (TGCM)

Ornamentals (front yard)
- Numex Twilight
- Numex Twilight (Overwintered Bonchi)
- Chinese 5 Color x 3

Same as every other year, I'll be using 5:1:1 mix in 5 gallon buckets. I'm still undecided whether or not I'll use CSN17 or Dyna Gro ferts yet; I've had success w/ both.

I plan on presoaking the seeds tomorrow night in a diluted hydrogen peroxide solution, then letting them hit the dirt the following day. MG Seed Starting Mix w/ additional perlite into a 72 cell tray. Same mix into Solo cups. Then, 5:1:1 in 1 gallon containers. Then, 5:1:1 into (final) 5 gallon buckets

Special thanks to everyone who contributed seeds to my grow this year!
Thanks for following, and best of luck to everyone's grow this year!

I have gotten pods off of a chocolate brainstrain and 7pot gravedigger. The gravedigger aren't really gnarly or anything. If you see me post anything you like let me know. I'm hoping my plants all kick back into gear. We need rain really bad. I dont think I'm giving them enough water

Looking great, Mike! Yeah, bummer about the Douglahs goin' red. I don't have a Douglah either, but the Chocolate Primo that I'm growing from Butch T looks very Douglah-esque. Thin walled feeling.

But, I too, would gladly send anything if you need it. I have those Cappuccino Scotch Bonnets, too.

Freakin' beautiful Mike!

Super busy with life lately,

Speaking of life buddy, how's the back? You done with that in home nurse stretching your muscle? :P

I like that softball idea to produce an awesome mini-tree visual effect with the trunk and roots. I hadn't heard of that before. It already looks great as an ornamental. Nice plants man.

Went out to water/fertilize this morning, so I figured I'd update this glog with some pics

Yellow Rocoto (left), Red Rocoto (right)
That's about all the sunlight they get all day. Seems to be the only shot I have of them actually setting pods

Finally starting to set pods since I switched to a lower nitrogen fertilizer
Yellow Rocoto (hopefully they'll ripen before frost, usually around Halloween)

I'll probably go out and harvest what I can later on today, or maybe tomorrow. When I do, I'll post it here

Thanks for looking, everybody

Mike great pod and flower shots .... really healthy plants looks like your going to get a good harvest. Your obligatory Christmas seed Card will include some new Cappuccino seed in true bonnet shape rather than elongated... I would love for you to grow them on
Thanks, John! I'd love some fresh seeds. I think my Cappuccino SB seed stock is from 2016. I think I'm gonna go pretty heavy on the Bonnets again for next year's grow. Please don't go crazy though; I'm not saving any seeds this year (I don't think). I'm going to have to come up with another way to pay you back ;)

Here's my harvest from yesterday's update. First of the year.
Not bad. Not great, but not bad, hahaha

Looks good from my house :P

Well done Mike!

Decent little pull from yesterday. Into the freezer they go until I've got enough to start making big batches of sauce. All the brown pods (Douglahs and Choc SBs) will make a trip through the smoker soon ;) Still not decided on what I'll do with the Red Douglahs; probably jelly though

Finally got my first couple of ripe White Bhuts too. Such tasty pods! Sweet, with a hint of apples. Only variety that hasn't ripened for me yet is the Aji Chombo

Thanks for looking

You seem to be doing fairly well with fatalii. This is one of the only variety I'm having trouble year after year.

My two plants died this year.
Last year one plant survived, but the other one only produced 10 pods.

Maybe next year, but I will probably buy some seeds from pepperlover, because mine got 20% germination rate.
