These were picked off a plant from ajijoe's "hot mixed surprise" seed offer early this year. The chiles go from green to black (not a sun tan) and stay black. They are very aromatic, medium walled, and taste a bit like a slightly hotter serrano. The plant itself looks very similar to a jalapeno. Fun fact - this plant almost died twice. It lost a cotlyedon in the germination station but refused to quit. Then, I put it outside too early (because it looked like my other jalapenos) and it almost died in a light frost. That told me it was probably a different genus. For 2 months, it was reduced to a small stem and I was sure it was a goner - then it suddenly took off and is quite prolific. Any ideas? Thanks again Joe! Surprises are fun.
