One reason why i like living out in the country by the river , no restrictions ,

Huh... where did you read that? :hmm:  I've heard of condo associations banning clotheslines and rain barrels on the theory that they lower property values, but not that one.

It's been against the law in Colorado forever. This last year they passed a law that one could put up rain barrels.http://www.lot-lines.com/collecting-rainwater-still-illegal-in-much-of-colorado/

Farmers are not happy around here.

Oh wow! That's just sick! I guess we take our rainfall here in the Northeast for granted. Water here isn't in such short supply that there's a need for water rights, and for the issue to get political. Clean water now... after a couple of centuries of unregulated dumping is very political. Some of our best trout streams are too polluted to permit eating your catch.

I was reading the conversation about rain water. I know Chuck already posted. But I do remember him discussing it in years past. We don't have that restriction here; but they are cracking down on water consumption from wells. Farmers have a quota they cannot exceed or mucho dinero in charges. <-- this is in the Edwards Aquifer. I'm South of that (thank the Lord) in the Carizzo-Wilcox. I have land in Ag use, and this year for the first time they had questions about well usage in the yearly survey; and I had to register the well we dug 2 years ago with the county. Yet mo big brother....

You know Scott , I have a well and city water , was fortunate they ran it out to us to the next little community who's water was drying up , so i had it ran up to the house ( big brother funded ) , didn't hook up to it till a few yrs. ago , but never asked about my well yet , they have no business telling me how much i can draw from it !     :snooty:

We looked into city water, it's about 3/4 to 1 mile away. And we would have to pay to have it piped here, no help that I know about. 10 years ago they wanted over $40k; and if my neighbor who's along that path wanted to tap in he would just have to pay from his house to the street (dirt road). So I asked the 2 neighbors I have, they won't spend a dime. So screw it. I now have 2 wells, one with a shaky casing issue. I use it to water the garden and orchard.

The questionnaire was Ag related, they're looking for peeps that irrigate using the pivots.

ahh , I see , Ag. buisness ( for now ) till they see more of this $$$$$$$ . Oh casing issue , not good !  Father- n- law had that problem , cost $$$$ . Yeah government funded most of ours they've ran it to 2 smaller 1 horse towns , so far , about one is 10 miles out of town ,

Hey Frank, looks like your plants are coming along nicely!
I'm glad Chuck said something about the rainwater in Colorado, as I thought I heard that years ago. Being in Michigan that blows my mind. And it seems like people saving rainwater are more likely to be environmentally conscious. I'm not sure why you'd target them

Guess the government thinks homeowners collecting a fe barrels of rain water is gonna keep the groundwater from replenishing ! D not know bout that , it rained enough last night to fill up a couple hundred barrels just off my garage .
