Mottle Virus???

So I had a sick plant a few weeks back...thought it might be a wilt in the soil, now I'm leaning more toward Mottle Virus...well here are pics of the original Fatalii plant that got sick...

Its the one on the right...symptoms started with some splotchy yellowing followed by some wilting up top...

Thought I might be done with it, but now after a couple weeks its neighbor a purple bhut is showing the same initial symptoms.

I didn't take any more photos of this plant, but the entire plant looks like this (mottled yellowing and upturned edges) including some splotchyness on the pods. When I get home I can include more...

Pretty sure the solution is pull it spray everything for aphids and keep my fingers crossed. Just wanted to confirm with you folks that are smarter than me on this...I have another purple bhut so if I lose this one it'll hurt, but I'll get over it. Hoping that the others in the area have some resistance. Is it worth trying to save? Does it look like mottle to you all? The other plants in the area all still look healthy and green. They are all on the same feeding/water schedule and the PH in that area is 6.8-7.0.

Thanks in advance for any input...

ThEre are greenhouse test strips you can order offline to test for a handful of viral infections. Then you won't be guessing or trashing plants that may not need trashing. Take a few aspirins and disolve them into 3-4 gallons of water and foliar spray. Or if you have willow around make willow water

this is a neat way to make the plant produce immunity hormones very rapidly. I've been researching this for a few days and it seems to work miracles for pests, fungi, bacteria, and viruses!

Well I sure hope it isn't but judging by this website it very well could be. Sorry bro

Yeah man...no worries. Lots of plants have resistance to it...so fingers crossed that's the story out there with the ones that look healthy. I have another Purple Bhut and two more Fataliis so no worries yet. Just hope it doesn't spread like the plague. I actually read that site and many others last night trying to figure this out. Thanks for the info!

I will get a hold of some of those strips for sure...and attempt your aspirin trick on all the healthy ones now to hopefully bolster their immune systems and prevent any more from getting sick. I already yanked that one though. Might have been unnecessary, and it was definitely painful for me to pull it, but I wasn't willing to take a chance on the rest of them getting sick. Do you have any experience using mineral oil to prevent transmission as stated in article that Jamie linked?

That plant hurt, but right behind it is this one...

Which is supposed to be a Red 7 Pot...It was open pollinated and aquired from a trade with Griff. So I have no idea who the father is or how they will turn out. I have 3 plants from those seeds and the other two are a much more typical darker shade of green. I really like the potential of this plant! Hope it stays well long enough to figure it out!

Fingers crossed again...man I hope this is the last time I have to post a sickly one this season.

Thanks for the input guys...I really trust both of your experience and opinions.

It was me that mentioned mottle virus in your sick fatalii thread and I need to post a correction.
I mentioned the mottle virus can be seed borne and not spread by bugs, I was mixed up with the mild mottle virus.

The mottle virus (PMV) is not seed borne, and is spread by bugs.

The mild mottle virus (PMMV) is seed borne, and not spread by bugs but through mechanical means (handling seeds and plants)

Pablo...Thanks man, and was worried the first time you posted it! This definitely more closely resembles PMV to me. Thinking back now...I had a sick plant in the greenhouse that I tried to save instead of getting rid of it early. It arrived not too long after the aphids showed up. I eventually moved it out of the greenhouse and put it in the ground early because I wanted to get it away from the other plants, it was one of the first ones I pulled along with the fatalii. I now believe my problems started then and I nursed them along trying to save them instead of getting rid of them early on. Lesson learned, just hope I am not relearning it 1 by 1 out there.

Thanks for your input!
