food mussel soup with white wine and chili

I made some mussel soup today.

This is what i used.

2kg mussels the white ones dunno the English name for it.

3 chilis
2 fish broth´s
1l of water
Garlic
Onion
thyme
500ml white wine

SO first i put the mussels into cold water then i put in some salt so they would spit out the dirt (for 10min).
After that i took a pan and had some oil in it, and threw in some chili and onion let it cook for 3mins. Then i added the broths, water, white wine and thyme. When i had boiled for around 3mins i threw in the mussels. Let it cook for about 3-5min and then done!

Heres some pictures.

orrevs, that looks SO GOOD! and especially since I'm starving right now. Haven't had a good mess of "clams" in a long time.

We call them clams over here. They look like Littleneck or Manila clams from the ridges on the shells. I'm guessing your clams are from the Atlantic (and not shipped from the Pacific) and I don't know if Manilas or Littlenecks are in the Atlantic.

Regardless, they look DELICIOUS!

It was very good! And not to hot!

The Latin name for them is Cerastoderma edule

Wikipedia'd the Latin name and it came up with "the common cockle", also called clam. Good to know! Thanks-

Can WE ALL come over for dinner???? Looks good!

What? Not enough room in your house for, oh, say 6,000 THP members?

Haven't heard the cockle term in awhile, now you got me hummin'.... "alive, alive oh".

Amazing how people around the world think in synchrony, I was at the public library this morning looking at cook books and had an idea to make some type of fish stew or possibly something with seafood medley. We can get a frozen bag in our grocery stores with chopped octopus, squid, mussel, clam, scallops etc

Good job, looks tasty and a quick google on weather in sweden, looks like a nice warm bowl of soup will just hit the spot.

here's the other mussels Pepperfreak was referring to-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mussel

Once again, it's interesting how the same words refer to different things in different parts of the world. We've already had the biscuit-cookie-cracker-scone discussion. :)

Burning Colon, that sounds like a good way to get the seafood medley. Wonder if we can get that around here...

Yes, the weather is not that nice over here but it could be worse!
We have similar frozen bags over here they are great to just throw in the pan with some chili and oil and alot of HEAT.

Ohhh, now when you say octopus you remind me of ordering some. My favorite food of all time is Boiled octopus i will post receipt and pictures on it later.
