Primo Mar 6, 2007 #2 Looks like Sun Scald...too much direct sunlight can cause the peppers to color black. It happens when the fruit is young and green...It won't effect the taste or seeds of the pods. Once the plants get more leaves, they will help with the problem. Primo

imaguitargod Mar 7, 2007 #4 It varies from plant to plant. Some of my Jalapenos, Piquins, and Puriras do this too. Don't worry about it.
