misc My bhut jolokias are finally turning! …and a lone scorpion!

My first year with these varieties and each have over 50 pods on the plant. Pulled 2 ripe pods which were very early starters… ate one. (Fruity and very hot) saved the other… and I’m really tempted to pull that almost-there ghost pod and maybe that Scorp too just to kick up the sauce i’ll make tonight from saturday’s harvest of ripe stuff (all annuums and tabsaco - you guys can debate that one) - a couple orange pods won’t wreck the color will they? - too late. Picking them right after I click “post thread”

And the sauce turned out alright. The “flavor part” is actually really nice. Sadly the extra almost ripe ghost and scorpion didn’t bring the heat I wanted. The tabasco and cayenne kiss was there on the lips and tongue, but the “big burn” never kicked in. Got 4 and a half woozies out of it.

I'm surprised that sauce didn't turn out as hot as you wanted especially putting a ghost pepper in there. Double up next time and use two =P That should get you there!
