My bonchi project

I started growing this explosive ember about four years ago as a birthday present for my mom. This plant has had it's fair share of up's and down's. The plant itself has pretty much been resurrected from death five times now and my mom is no longer interested in keeping it, so she gave it back to me to take care of. Recently I pruned it way back and pruned the roots as well. I'm going to attempt to turn it into a nice little bonchi, and I thought that I would chronicle my project from start to finish. Feel free to tell me what you all think. Input from others would be awesome.

It's been about a week since I pruned this poor thing back, but she's a trooper.  What a comeback she's made!!  I'm pretty surprised at just how much growth has been put on since then.  I'm probably going to try and bend the branches with some wire now to start getting the shape and silhouette that I want.

My soil mix is a blend of some sandy loam, organic garden soil, and peat moss.  I would say that it is blended about 40% garden soil, 30% sandy loam, and 30% peat moss.  I also added some perlite to keep the soil nice and fluffy.  I'm not sure what the formulation is specifically because I just scooped the soil in the pot out of my raised bed that is in my backyard. 
 
The soil seems to work pretty well.  I have a bhut jolokia and a carolina reaper growing in the same stuff.  Both of the chiles are huge and bushy; they are maybe about 3 feet tall and 3 feet wide.  I pruned them recently too along with this pepper here.  Now they are both growing even bushier and the pods are starting to go through their color change from green to orange.  I can't wait until all the pods are an angry red color.
