lighting My first sprouts bhut jolokia and questions on lighting

Wow, that must be a lot of marketing hype. I think a lot of newer flashlights use more than 2 watts of power. If your on a $10 budget until your bonus comes, your probably better off buying some larger CFL bulbs from your favorite big box store. And those CFL bulbs might just put out close to as much light as a specialty fixture anyways. I'm not kidding, they would work well in your clip fixtures as long as they don't get busted.

Do you plan to keep your plants inside in the closet, or will you move them outside for summer? I have three untrimmed plants I've brought in for the winter and they are HUGE...but those were outside all summer. I didn't notice above if you were clear what your intentions were.

I don't see the cardboard lasting long. But anyhow, I'd suggest separate pots before the roots get too intermingled if you haven't done that already. If you don't rip those plants apart soon, they will never separate easily. Or, are you planning to dead-head all but the healthiest one?

Ok so my first led grow light came today

I was really unimpressed. Hopefully it workes better than it looks.
My android phone screen looks like it puts out the same or more light.
I will keep you posted .who knows it might suprise me.I was expecting it to be as bright as the single led keychain flashlight.

Many people have also experienced excellent results using these bulbs for supplementary sub-canopy lighting.

Thats because you have an unimpressive light. Even mid range LED grow lights that work are $$$
This Bhut Jolokia 9 months old was grown with only LED lighting.

If I was made of money I would use this light in my grow tent.
Instead I have a few of these. The one on the plant in the picture is a "100watt" LED light using 3watt LED's "100watt" is in quotes because the actual power draw is more like 70watts.

That's what I said "marketing hype". I'd give the industry a year or two to mature to the point where they can compete with CFL's near the same price point. That being said, I bet CFL prices will increase after the government sponsored incandescent bans are in place for a little longer. The market seems flooded with cheep CFL's at the moment because of those new laws in multiple countries taking effect.

Ok here is my new grow setup
I made the entire closet reflective except for a few ventalation gaps.
I have one 24 inch floro growlight - blueish glow
I have a regular cfl light bulb - whiteish glow
And the red/blue led grow light on the left

I know it doesn't look bright in these photos but its BLINDING!!!

Too much heat, and too much wasted electricity. If your gonna burn a K of watts, just go buy a 400w HPS or MH. For growing seedling to plant out, just get some T-8 floros. Don't think people haven't tried a full grow with less than optimal lighting, ended up with less than optimal results. Just mu .02

I’m not sure about that blue 24” inch bulb. Your plants look good but they should have their own pots I like that style of pot with the air intake and water reservoir….

Again I would not use T8 bulbs and HPS/MH use a lot more power adding to your electric bill over the holidays…

Great work on the Bhuts. I have some seedlings growing as well. Starting to slowly get the second leaves appearing. I wish you the best in growing.

My new t5 comes in on the third
I will post new photos as soon as I mount it of both plants and my grow room.
