New chapter in my life

You may try growing some of the ornamental pepper varieties. They may win over your wife. For example, Google Numex Easter and look at the images. My wife tolerates my pepper passion because she thinks the pods are pretty.
 
Welcome from Las Cruces, New Mexico!  I grow plenty of mild, flavorful peppers along with the super-hots, so that I make salsas, mole, and things my wife and friends will enjoy.
