New grower seeking advice on super hots

Hi there. I am looking to start growing Brain Strain peppers and perhaps bhut jolokias and habaneros. I was wondering if some of you might have some advice for me.

I have an AeroGarden that I just got today which I would like to use to germinate the seeds and then transfer into a larger pot. I also have considered using plant starters.

I plan to soak the seeds but I am wondering if I should soak them in a solution of sorts.

Any tips are greatly appreciated!

must be an exciting time for you. first christmas and an aerogarden sounds like a great christmas.

for the super hots, i would germinate with a heat pad first unless you feel like covering the aerogarden with something to keep the heat up around 85F, until the seeds germinate.

i soaked my seeds overnight in a combination of solutions over the years, water and epsom salt, water and hydrogen peroxide, just plant water, water and tea and all my seeds germinated, with the exception of locato seeds, but it looks the commonality is water, so i don't know if the other addins played any kind of roll in germination. After the soaking, i put some seeds into rockwool and then into my mini heated greenhouse germinator. after sprouting, i then put the rockwool with seedling into a container and then directly into the deep water culture(dwc) similar principle to the aerogarden and then watch them grow.

I recommend peat Jiffy pellets to germ seeds in. You can soak the seeds in a diluted amount of HP for 2 hrs, rinse the seeds then place them overnite or 6 to 8 hrs in a solo cup or container with luke warm water. Then you can plant the seeds. As far as the mats, I use them for all my seeds. I use a thermastat,with my seedling heat mat and a humidity dome, Make sure your germinating temps are 80-85 degrees. I also lay a bath towel over the mat but under the seed flat. This way the mat won't heat up the soil to much and the towel elimates any "Hot Spots" from the mat.

Thanks for the advice, Burning Colon! (nice name btw). I have begun researching various soaking methods and most people agree that using tea helps... can I literally just brew some tea and place them in there? And what if I were to add hydrogen peroxide to the tea, would that cause for an issue? Also rockwool sounds like an excellent way to keep seeds warm while you are germinating them. Would you mind telling me a bit more?

Megahot, thank you as well for your advice. I would like to know how much Hydrogen Peroxide you used in your solution? Also I am interested in using a heating mat to help germinate the pepper seeds. I will have to place a towel or some sort of mat over it to prevent the heat from being unbearable.

Hmmm I am going to try this, I have noticed that areas in the center are hotter than the edges. Thanks for the tip.

I put 4 condiment (Ketchup cups over the mat (1 per corner with the cover on), and let the heat rise around the bottom of the tray) heat rises so I know its only going up.

and I got about 95% germination on my seeds last time, and kept the seed tray in perfect temperature
