New Lawn mover runs like a Deere

The pirate hat was a gift from someone who visited me in the hospital.  The kids love it.  They also love the new lawn mower.  I would not normally spend what it takes to buy a John Deere, but it was discounted about half off because the headlight harness is missing and there are a few scratches.  Who in the hell mows at night?

Not pictured cause I have not assembled it is a grass catcher.  Being organic with a hatred of that black plastic stuff, lawn clippings, mulch, and compost are our main strategy against weeds.  In previous years, I used a walk behind mower with a bag.  Not possible this year due to new limitations.  So here is my solution and it runs like a Deere.

Oh and a really cool song....
.

I'd rather push my JD than drive a Craftsman. Mine only hasn't started one time. I had to blow snow (with the JD snowblower attachment) before heading to work one morning. It was -18º so the battery was to cold to turn the engine over. It started later that afternoon when it warmed up to -5º.

I LOVE my John Deere!!!

Yours is same model new this year?  OK, that is strange.  Love the place the snow comes out.  Looks like you can turn it to face drivers face.  Now that there is a fantastic joke waiting to happen.

Curious, do you know about the lawn sweeper attachment?  It was half the price of a grass catcher.  Follows behind the lawn mower.  Wheels make it sweep lawn into a bin.  I am kind of confused.  Grass shoots out side no back.  Thinking you get done mowing and then go back over it with the sweeper?

I know I sound like an idiot.  Always used a walk behind with bagger.

my neighbor has one of the lawn sweepers, it does work pretty good. But he mow's first then goes over the lawn again with the grass sweeper. Works pretty decent with leaves and pine needles also.

I purchased the mulching deck and mow my lawn short once a week to every 5 days or so, spits out basically nothing.

my green machine new last summer-

LOL No, The snow chute only goes 210º L or R, not 360º. hahaha

Mine is a D 115, 3 years old. Only difference is 2 HP.

My opinion about the sweeper is it is not needed if you have the bagger set up. As long as you have the Bagging Blades, that machine is like a vacuum cleaner for your yard. JD has three blades for that mower, 1.) Regular cutting (for the side chute) 2. Mulching blades, 3.) bagging blades for pushing the grass up the bagging chute to the catch bags. The are bent in such a way that they literally vacuum everything up. It's like aerodynamic sciencey kinna sheet. LOL

But I can assure you, if it is made by JD, it will be a great product that is well made. A little on the expensive side but still far better than knock off brands that don't work or will break after a few uses.

Sexy FPB!!!

Scoville, thought it followed behind and caught the grass.  Now know you gotta go back over it.  Sorry for being confusing, kind of new to terms.  But while we are talking about it, why on earth are the catchers so expensive?  There is an actual vacuum cleaner, with its own motor, follow behind thing, that has a hose that goes to the grass shoot which is not much more than the grass catcher.  The vacuum cleaner is not name brand, but still the catcher is just a hose and a frame.  Seems way over priced.

This is what I have and thought you were talking about. It picks up everything, including gravel, as you mow, no need to go back over it unless I am using the de-thatcher rake. 1st pic shows the kit WITH the bagger blades. 2nd pic shows it on the mower.

Are you talking about one of these? 1st pic is the self contained unit that is an actual vacuum. 2nd is a "Lawn Sweeper" that has a rotating brush, driven by inertia, that sweeps as you drive but doesn't catch the clippings while you're mowing (probably the cheapest option of the 3).
