"A 'new' open box unit...": 'New' and 'open box' don't inspire confidence, at least not for a ready to use solution. (Read: what exactly?) Return it.
Of course if you're interested to pull it apart then go nuts. But: 1) worth the time/effort?; 2) don't do it; 3) do you know what you're doing?; 4) really?; 5) watch that first and/or last zap, they're both doozies
