No frozen vegetables at grocery???

So the entire frozen vegetable section at Walmart is gone.  There is a sign up saying they have been recalled.  That is all brands.  Wife googled it and it seems wide spread, moving from grocery store to grocery store.  It is as if all frozen vegetables come from the same place.  I dont think that is possible, so what on earth could be going on?

There was a massive recall on all frozen veggies over a 3 year period from a certain flash freezing/packing plant or series of plants as they found traces of listeria and it can continue to multiply while frozen.

Do you mean this has been ongoing for the past 3 years and is just now becoming huge?

That is what I am getting at.  I imagine the produce was grown all over the place.  I guess it could be contaminated at a single flash freeze facility, but hard to believe that all brands in a Walmart came from that same facility.  Not sure I would say suspicious cause there are much more dangerous things someone might use to harm the food supply, but it is weird as heck now isn't it?

I wonder if maybe the testing procedure was made tighter so it is spotting more.  I know the food safety modernization act and other fairly recent changes go into effect over time.

The recall is for everything from 3 years ago up until now. I'm assuming they just discovered the issue.

Amazing, isn't it?  Same exact food item being sold under 8 different brand names.  The item you buy at walmart for 2.99 is the same thing sold at wholefoods for 5.99.

Wow on so many levels.  First the three year thing.  If they are recalling food produced three years ago, that kind of means frozen vegetables could be three years old.  I can not imagine that is safe because some stuff continues to grow while frozen.  Yuck.
 
Wow also for what Salsalady brought up.  I knew generic and name brand things were often the same, but had no idea how many different frozen vegetables were processed at the same plant.  Although our grocery stores offer a large selection of brands, they are all gone.  Seems like they are all the same frigging thing from the same frigging place.  Had no clue how wide spread it was.

thats how capitalism always worked!
 
its called price discrimination. its exactly the same thing as issuing coupons in a newspaper.  you can charge as much as you can to as many consumers as you can.

Several brands marketed as organic are involved in this recall. Your own  or fresh is by far best.
 
All of the vegetables involved were processed at a plant in Pasco WA.  I'm sure they have several different processing lines, afaik, organic items can't be processed on the same line as non-organic ( not sure on that, just going on what some requirements are for other porocessing facilities...)
 
But the same run of organic corn can be packaged under 8 different organic labels, including what's called Private Labeling.
 
Below are labels that had Organic Sweet White Corn.  I didn't cross reference lot  numbers, I'll leave that for someone  with OCD.  :lol:
