I think Miracle Grow Cactus Mix is junk! Last year was the first year I grew hot peppers. After researching the internet. Some pepper place in California said to use a cactus mix and NEVER use peat to start peppers. I took their advice and used MG Cactus Mix. It had small chunks of wood in it. I had perhaps 20% germination using it and it took forever. Three weeks later, I started a couple early tomatoes and thought I would try 6 Bhut Jolokia seeds in Jiffy pellets. Ten days later I had 6 healthy baby Bhuts. They quickly surpased the plants started in the Cactus Mix.
I ended up trying Schultz brand cactus mix to mix with the potting soil I was using and found that mix was finer in the mixture and would probably be better suited for starting seeds in than the Miracle Grow mix. I started all my Bhut's this year in Jiffy pellets...and again..100% germination.
