ooo....ooo...a headache with pictures...

AN IDEA!

One of my favorite party foods is vegetables and crusty bread with a cheese fondue. I was thinking throwing in a few habs or scotch bonnet peppers would make a REALLY good fondue. I want to try it myself, but I don't have the resources to pull it off (enough friends willing to eat things with habs in it). The fruity overtones of those peppers would go really well in the right fondue, and the richness of the cheeses would mellow the heat. If anyone tries this, let me know how it turns out.

just don't tell your friends until after they take the first bite, i bet some of them would keep eating. its not lying unless they ask you 'are there hot peppers in this cheese sauce?' and even then unless they say 'hot' in front of 'peppers' you have plausible deniability cuz they could have meant peppercorns.
as a side note, i might be morally corrupt. and i want some fondue now.

I'd use a really smooth melting Swiss cheese, finely chop the peppers into the mix....maybe add an ounce or two (or three!) of an IPA or pale ale as well.

That sounds great! DD, his wife, and I had this great cheese fondue with green chili's just recently. That was awesome.

Speaking of headaches, I have one...hangovers suck.

 thats what I'd do, I have a tendency to enjoy pulling a prank on people with HOT chiles. I'll sometimes just say its not that hot (well for me its not) & then enjoy watching their faces
well I've run out of people to pull these pranks on now, because no one fully trusts me anymore with the food I make
but I dont use those extreme chiles like 7pot,bhuts,etc... I wont do that to anyone, & if I do I make sure theres milk & bread around before I do this & wont do this to some older people.

i don't really consider it pranking them, just opening their minds to new experiences. they might end up really liking spicy food and would never have known it if it weren't for me. at least that's what i say after the prank. if you keep a straight face you can really sell it.

I Never, Ever do that. I want people to enjoy eating peppers because if they enjoy it, they'll be willing to try more. I try very hard to match the correct pepper to the heat they say they like, and people are willing to experiment with peppers on my suggestion because they trust me. The only thing people have to fear from my food is the occasional dog hair, and I even warn 'em about that.

I agree with Pam on this one, they might be your friends, so I don't want them second guessing me in the future, and I certainly don't want to turn them off the stuff by "throwing them in the deep end".

Or better yet! Defcon ZERO!!!!!

I suggested the flavor of the tropical peppers would go well with the fondue, not the heat. I could honestly give or take the heat in most foods, it was the flavor I was thinking of. Same reason I didn't suggest red savina (my favorite) or fatallii peppers, unless you used a less "swiss" cheese combo; not that I dislike those peppers, they just don't pair as well in my mind.

Oh..........I see......well, I'm crazy so I'll do it just for the heat, then throw in a few habs for flavor ;)

I got some Blair's 3AM from my son 6 months ago and he had put it in a cough syrup bottle. Well I was storing it in my bathroom so no one would be tempted to use it and my wife accidentally gave it to someone who had a cough. Had to pay his doctor bill. :(

My little woman and I fondue all the time(well when the little one isnt around)No better way to get to know someone all over again..as for cheese fondues..im thinking of getting a regulated electric element its a pain in the ass with oil..but to add peppers to the cheese??I never thought of that..Awsome!! That thought never even crossed my mind..Thx for the idea

Ouch that sucks lol Nothing serious happened??

I'm with Pam on this one...I go for flavor over heat with my non chili eating friends. They always want more afterwards. Sure burning them out is funny ...if you don't like them. For the few friends I have, I give them the real deal and if they want it hotter...I accommodate accordingly. I warn them to be careful what they wish for..
Cheers, TB.

Last fall One of my non thinking friends ate one of my habs after I warned him not to I couldnt stop laughing for a good 30 mins but I warned him though he made it looklike the world was about to end he suffered so much
