Ordering Scare

It is so easy to locate the exact pepper seed or plants but it scares me to death to put my card information on line, I have been bitten so many times. The peppers you find on line , some, you will not find anywhere else. Are any of you affected with the same scare?

Welcome Salgal, Check out the vender vault section for reviews of seed sellers. There are several reputable sellers that are members here. Your concern is understandable. Also check out the marketplace for giveaway seeds very often offered there. Good Luck with seed hunting and your season.

I would use paypal. They offer protection against fraudulent charges as should your card. Then you only have to put your card info into one site, and pay through them. Much better to go that route then to trust every site you shop from with your card info. Very secure these days, but nothing is foolproof.

I agree with Shane. I only use PayPal. I know that they have an extremely robust anti-fraud division and have access to databases and computer programs that the DoD and Dept of State utilize to catch everyone from money launderers and terrorists.

+1 good idea.

:welcome: from the PacificNorthWest! Your credit card should be safe, but don't ever use your debit card for an online purchase. Also, if the web site url says "https..." at the beginning then it should be a secure site. Also stick with sellers and brand names you recognize.

A substantial amount of orders we receive use paypal. Google checkout also is a safe alternative. If not, use a credit card, as opposed to a debit card that connects to your bank account. Credit cards add at least a reasonable amount of protection against fraud. And, as stated above, stick to reliable vendors.

Welcome!

I am a fraud investigator....nobody outside of law enforcement has access to to the databases you refer to. But it sounded good. To give access to anybody outside sworn law enforcement access to confidential databases is illegal. There are some pretty nice third party databases out there, I am sure pay pal subscribes to those Databases.

So what happens when the person taking the order jots your number down and has fun w/ it? My girlfriend and i have had our accounts seriously compromised!! We get Visa Prepaid cards for internet orders! We put just what we need on um, cut um up n throw um away!

Well, first off I never said which databases Paypal has access to. I was trying to make the point that they are more than just a mom and pop money transfer company. I figured it was implied that they wouldn't have access to things outside of the scope of what their business is about, money. More specifically,

"Palantir was built through iterative collaboration between computer scientists and analysts from various intelligence agencies over the course of nearly three years, through pilots facilitated by In-Q-Tel.[sup][9][/sup] The software concept grew out of technology developed at PayPal to detect fraudulent activity, much of it conducted by Russian organized crime syndicates.[sup][4][/sup]".

Also,
"Palantir Government is used by counter-terrorism analysts at offices of the FBI and CIA, fraud investigators at the Recovery Accountability and Transparency Board, and cyber analysts at Information Warfare Monitor (responsible for the GhostNet and the Shadow Network investigation). Palantir Finance is used by a number of well-known hedge funds, banks, and financial services firms.[sup][5][/sup][sup][19][/sup][sup][20][/sup][sup][4][/sup]"

Again, Paypal has access to SOME government databases and programs that DoD and the US Government use in order to investigate and prosecute financial cases and other criminal/terrorist activity. In short, use PayPal.
