food Passow's Response To Texas Blues' Burrito Worship

Well, TB’s burrito gave me burrito envy and I have been planning my version and drooling ever since I saw it. So here we go:

Kalamata Olives
Sundried tomatoes
Cajun Seasoned Shrimp
Kidney beans
Scallops
Corn
Red Onion (very little)
Red Bell Pepper
Top Grade French Almond Oil
El Yukateco XXXtra Hot sauce
A Whole Bhut Jolokia
Escargot with garlic butter (two of which were fried up with the above)
Cheese
Flower Wrap
A Squeeze of Lime juice
Dried Basil
Garlic Clove
Two Chanetrelle Mushrooms

And by the way...I ate it ....with a nice kee-on-tee...phs..phs..phs..phs..phs..phs..phs..

So why the red bell pepper? Why not something like a couple of anaheims? Oh, and IMO a burrito is meant to be "dragged through the garden" so to speak. Best use for leftovers ever is to burrito 'em up.

Whoah!!!!! With all due respect, I hate this attitude towards mexican food!

My wife is the same way. If I say burritos or fajitas, she says cheap sirloin. (I know TB, skirt steak is traditional) I say New York strip or filet.

Mexican steak is only so good because no one puts decent meat into it.

I think a burrito or taco can be gourmet too.

(I get you Jay T, a steak you paid $50 for probably should be eaten as served, but when it is leftovers, I think it is fair game!)

sauteed in the cast iron...
