Pendant pequin pods?

I've seen a pequin or two in my day and all the ones I've ever seen have had the fruit pointing upright. This is first one I've ever seen that has pods are pendant.

Any idea if there is a varitey of pequin that is supposed to have pendant pods or is this one a bit of a freak?

Edit: There are multiple plants in this one pot, the purple ones and upright green ones are on different plants.

I've got a similar "issue" on a SmiterQ Texas Pequin plant. By the flavor i'm now sure it was accidentally crossed with a Chinense... I suppose yours is a cross as well. True pequins grow upright.

Nice pods TXCG, could definitely be something new for this variety.

However, it could be due to a nutrient deficiency. I recommend a weak dose of this and if things don't improve, double the dosage until you see an improvement.

I'm with Datil. I've gotta wonder if its a cross   The larger pod on the right of the picture looks a lil' off for a pequin too, I've seen them grow longer but not fatter like that. I've only ever seen upright pequin myself. You should save seeds just in case it is a pheno variation and not a cross, I spose.

I had one make 4-5 longer pods in 2014. I sent D3 a few of those longer pequin pods and he grew crosses from the seeds (suspected goatsweed x pequin). Interesting that the crossed pods looked different than the rest on the plant. In the past I've always thought you couldn't recognize a crossed pod.
Not sure why I mention that? But yea, I'm leaning towards a cross from what I see in the picture.

Heart throb is a Bac. , has white buds and gold specs in the flowers.

I see the buds that look similar to a Frut.,the hook at the end of the unformed bud.
Might have Frut. in it or be a Frut..
