I have them growing in the veg garden at work - they full of fruits right now.
As was mentioned in anearlier post - the flavour comes from the pickling solution. They are actually quite flavourless as baccatum go. The reason they were selected and used is because the seed is easy to remove and like all baccatum they do not disintegrate when even hot pickled.
Try Brazilian Pumpkin as a substitute - way better flavour and heat.
