pepper head in training i guess

Ok , so this is the deal... my son the 4 yr old. has started to bite his nails, momma in all her wisdom, decided to coat his finger nails in hot pepper powder to stop him from doing that.. well it didnt work and he llkes hot stuff now.. hes eating daddys hot salsa with chips etc..he did stop with the nails though

Just thought i would share...:)

To stop someone doing something harmless, put them in a position where they could burn their hands, eyes, mouth, and not to mention their private parts? Please don't anyone else try this. Fingernail vanity isnt important enough to potentially hurt a kid.

worked for me when I was little and at worst I developed a liking for my dad's pickled chiltepin peppers and have been eating hot peppers and sauces ever since. At least they didn't try weening him off breast feeding by rubbing the nipples with hot chili peppers. OooWeee!

Parents have been doing this for years, and the precious little snowflakes always survived. ;) My parents used cayenne powder to get my sister to stop sucking her thumb. She only died twice.

At least they aren't locking him in the basement and burning him with hot irons, and blow torches.

They did this on my cousin when we were kids. He's one of the few who can eat superhot food with me.

My uncle used to make his kids put tobasco in their mouths when they swore or did other naughty things. NONE of my cousins, on that side of my family, can stand spicy food at all anymore.

And yet when this was tried on me, when I was little, never quite worked how he planned. I usually swished it like mouth wash and asked him why this was supposed to deter me from doing anything.

My uncle's sister however treated with the pepper powder to stop sucking her thumb can almost eat things on my level.

So in some ways I guess it works others not so well.

My dad used to trick me into eating hot stuff when i was a kid. Lol... Now i trick him! He don't like it as hot as me. Then i have a dog that used to chew on the porch swing. I rubbed fresh ghost pepper on it and he don't do it any more!
