Pepper pedals

Check out these pedals that turned into pepper flesh on this Thai Hot Ornamental.

They are very thick and rigid and I squeezed a piece and tasted my finger and it had pepper flavor. Very weird.

That happens sometimes. I do not think it's the petals turning into the extra pepper though. Something else making that happen AFAIK.

I have a very similar plant doing the same thing. The second round of fruit on them does not have the "petals".
