Pepper restaurant channel

How does one get into the supply chain to restaurants? I would imagine they'd favor fresh ingredients over packaged or dried?
Would a simple attempt be to just send them a postcard type ad with a web link?
 
For restaurants that use only fresh local ingredients, there is no channel, because they buy from farmers markets and local vendors. The way it's done a lot is the ole' door to door salesman routine. If you've worked in a restaurant you've seen many vendors come in and introduce themselves. Go when they are opening up, before they have customers.
