"protected" Does it mean that i can't sell their seeds?
If it's the same as PVP (USA) and PBR (Australia) then generally yes. Someone confirm this but you can not -without consent- use the name, or sell your harvest. The specifics may change from plant to plant.

I can comment only regarding the Espelette pepper. And this is based on the info supplied by my contact. You can grow it and give the seeds or peppers away but you cannot sell the seed or peppers produced from the seed you grow.

For the Espelette you can grow them and sell them but you can't call them Espelette.
you have to call them Gorria type Espelette.

the  same for other the name is protected only for grower from the region from where the name is given

Just added more to my not interested in growing list.

Makes it more interesting to me :) Trying to obtain seeds is a bit of a challenge!

I recently asked Pimiento del Piquillo de Lodosa (Denominación de Origen) on Facebook following question...

Hello, is it possible to buy fresh Pimiento del Piquillo de Lodosa via the internet when they are in season? Thanks in advance.

Today I got an answer...

Hi Marc! I'm so sorry but the Origin Denomination doesn't admit fresh peppers. We have only elaborated product. Please dont hersitate to tell me any other question. Kind regards

Tap De Corti is a paprika pepper in Mallorca that's specific for a local sausage called Sobrassada. I think the pepper or the sausage or both may be protected in some way.
It is a Landrace from Mallorca island, but I did not find any protection certification.

Tap de Cortí doing well :)

My Tap de Cortí seedlings failed big time in the 2017 season. The little plants got hit by a late freeze that killed them all and it was too late to start new seeds.
I now have a Tap de Cortí plant that is about to start flowering.

Could we, for example, start a seed train to share these seeds?  :shh:

I always have original Piment D'Espelette seeds available as I buy fresh Piment D'Espelette every year in France when they are in season. These seeds have already been added to the European seed train. I also gave seeds to THSC, who is now growing them and has seeds available to buy. But I'm always willing to share! :)

I'm currently also growing Piquillo De Lodosa (a Spanish heirloom variety) and Piment Doux Long des Landes, a French variety that is grown near the Espelette region and is often used in recipes that also contain Espelette chilli.

Personally I'm still looking for the chili varieties that are used in the Pimentón de la Vera paprika powder. Seems impossible to find...
