Petrac 2020

So, last year growing season was a blast for me. I hope this year it wont be much different. I ordered seeds from 2 different companies, one pacage arrived this week. First four in the list are now in the soil. I had to stop myself from ordering more seeds..Its just so addictive looking through all this stuff..

Those look great, @Petrac! My Yaki Blue Fawn was a
beast this season, and the Cumari Pollux grew like a
little tree in a 6-liter pot. What is the first pic?

The first pic is suppost to be yaki fawn blue
 
Mine had pointy pods on one half of the plant, and big
bags of gnarl on the other half. Very strange. And HOT!
I guess this kind of crosses are quite unstable.

I got my seeds from semillas la palma; they're known as a reliable source of seeds-perhaps that changed during the years, but so far I cant complain much. Peter grows in Canary islands. Aparantly yaki is turning purple-red if the season is hot and long enough. For now, mine a deep purple and smooth.

Semillas la Palma has never disappointed me;
always had good luck with them. My YBF pods
are ripening to a nice red color with lots of creases.
Last year, none of my YBF ripened up, so this year
is a win for that variety!

I have also good overall experience with them. From time to time germination is a bit on a low side, but atleast you get what you order.

He also has an incredible variety list you can pick from - but still he doest have some seeds I would very much like to grow, but not even one company from US sends here -.-
 
I got 3 harvest's like that in a past month. 90% of it is habanero red caribbean, a few of cohoc habs and a few fatalii pods. I also managed to harvest my first rocotto pod ever. All the rest is still not ready to be harvested.

Hi Paul,

No, that is one very unfortunate pod of my ksls...about 1/4 of them is the right shape, the rest are a bumpy mess.

The long skinny ones are Thunder Mountain Longhorn. They're fun to grow :)

I also hope that alteast what's left on the plants will ripen up, since all the super hots are just beginning to get some decent color.
 
I bet they'll all ripen, as long as they begin to change color you can safely pick them (if it gets extremely cold) and put them in a cardboard box on your counter, they'll get ripe in a week or so.

Love that yellow bumby pod it reminds of the 7pot brain strain (reds) I had a few years ago, they were crazy hot.
How do you like chocolate ones?

I know they'll ripen sooner or later if i place them on a warm place, but i try to leave them on the plants as long as possible, since nothing beats natural ripeness on the sun.

Choco habs are one of my favourite chili plats. I use them to make the brown sauce I once sent to you. Unfortunaty I was purchasing those seeds from a store in UK, which now doesn't sell seeds to EU untill there is no clean agreement between UK and EU after Brexit regarding business trading.
 
Hi all,

Like said, the frost ended our season quite early. I cooked the first batch of my brown hot sauce, also tried to make one with carolina reaper, garlic and lemon juice..Quite nice and tangy :)

I have managed to make a few 1dl glasses of powder. 4 of Thunder mountain longhorn and one of each KSLS and sugar rush peach.

A batch of mixed peppers, that have riper or almost ripen in 14 days in the box on the window sill is being dried at this moment which will also be processed into powder.

Unfortunately a vast amount of peppers went into the compost heap unripened, but that didn't stop me to plan next year pepper patch. I have managed to get some seeds from semillas via my friend in Venice, the rest I purchased from Croatian Seed store, which is aparantly also a great store and suggested by one of the fellow forum member.

Yep, that was one hell of a reaper..and even more hellish pasta aglio e olio con pecorino dinner. I was sweating for a good half an hour after.

I think I'll manage to grow them, there is still a few types that are not on that picture and will be grown. I usually give away a few peppers each year to my friend and my boss.
 
Good luck with the Lemon Starburst. Lots of people seem to like that one.

Reaper pasta! Doesn't sound half bad. The olive oil should have mitigated
the heat a tiny bit! Glad you got the 'full monty' experience, @Petrac.
 
The season 2022 has officialy started for me too. On the bottom is the list of chosen types. I went a bit on the superhot side this year.

It's the first time I bought seeds from Croatian seeds store, since it was recommended here, I believe they'll be true to type, but only time will tell.
I also grow 2 separate habanero chocolate seeds this year. One is from my regular supplier, who unfortunaly doesn't sell to EU since Brexit, the other ones are from Croatia. I did this just to see how different peppers ''the same'' peppers can be from two different suppliers.

All exept Piri piri, Caribbean habanero and jalapenos were planted in the soil in Tuesday.

They're sitting in a closet shelf, opposite to AC, so they're getting some nice hot air during the day to keep them warm. Later on, when they will start to sprout, I'll place them under 4 54W 6500K Fluo tubes, untill they will not be strong enough to be transplanted to individual seed tray, then they will go back to my parent's house, where they will stay until mid of may, when they will be potted into the garden.
